Is it possible to record Video tape to DVD?
« on: April 28, 2006, 11:49:17 AM »
I have several tapes that have been made over the years about coaching softball and I would like to be able to put them on DVD's so I could play them for kids at the ball park on a laptop.  Any Suggestions?  :-?

It can certainly be done.  Ideally you'll need a decent video capture card installed in your PC, and the PC itself will need to be fairly high spec.  Playing around with video is the hardest work most home PCs get to do.

This is what I have:
3GHz with 2GB Ram and a Radeon 9550 with 256MB of memory.  The HD is
75GB and I have a removable drive with 100GB.  There is a CD Drive and a DVD R/W drive as well.  Would this be able to handle the job?

If so where would be the best place to find directions?

Yes that should be up to the job.  Can the Radeon do video capture?

According to the directions the s-video connection is for video in and video out.  It also states that the Excalibur Radeon card has viedo in capability for capturing full motion or still image video.  It shows multiple cable configurations.  Knowing absolutly nothing about this I don't know what software would be used to do this.  It may be already on the system and I am not knowlegable to know what I am looking at.   ;D
