    Picture importer needed
    « on: May 23, 2006, 05:59:31 PM »

I just dug out a digital camera (alaris e-snap USB camera, BHI 11D 22400,) but have to get a program to import the pictures from the camera to my computer. I am running XP pro 2002. I can't figure out how to get into the cameras internal memory, and there is no memory card for it, Kodak easy share won't recognise the camera, and I have the driver for it, I'm stumped

Any ideas on what I can do to get the pictures off?

Viper1991..... Hummmmmm ............  Your going to require the software which comes with the camera......... check with the Camera manufacturer's website it may be one there .

If you don't know the answer, it isn't a dumb question.

Does Windows do anything in recognition of the camera when you attach it to the computer and turn on the camera?  I believe it should at least make the standard audio signal that it makes when a USB device is attached.

With the camera attached and turned on, have you looked at My Computer to see whether Windows recognizes the camera under Devices with Removable Storage?

Yes there is the sound when I connect the camera to my computer, but my computer won't recognize the camera under devices with removeable storage. I can go to the control panel and look under scanners and cameras, and it is there. but all i can do is test the camera, and that won't do anything besides tell me there is nothing wrong with it.

Well, that's different from my system.  With my camera connected, it does show up in My Computer under Devices with Removable Storage, same as my USB Flash drive?  Device Manager also displays a sub-item for it under Storage volumes.  Control Panel, Scanners and Cameras, shows nothing.

Sorry, I don't know what to suggest.  Is your camera a Kodak camera?  Is alaris a Kodak brand name?  You say it has not memory card.  Does it have a slot for a memory card?  How old is the camera?

No, it's not a Kodak camera, but the camera is somewhere around 7 years old. Also there is no slot for a memory card.

I am going to try and hook the camera to a school computer tomarrow, I can clear it with my info tech teacher next period. I might be able to get it to work on a w2k computer.

Good luck. Is there a possibility that it just doesn't work correctly?

                      Have you tried this. http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=116245
It is supposed to be a zip file of the original software that came with the camera and is supposed to work in all windows versions. The alaris e-snap was a promotional item sent out by earthlink, as was the xirlink dsc pro. If the file download (e-snap.zip) is indeed the original software it should contain a twain driver that is necessary (unless you already an adequate one with some other software). The twain driver may be what you are missing.
