removable drive problem
« on: May 23, 2006, 04:29:47 PM »
Hi all,

I have a removable drive that worked just fine until two weeks ago. My sick 5-year old son clicked on an option before I could see it. Whenever I plugged it in, windows xp would ask me what I wanted to do. Now there is nothing at all. I cannot even view the drive in windows explorer.

Now my computer refuses to recognize the drive at all. I've tried system restore and it did not work.

Any suggestions besides reformatting?

I don't want to lose the data on the drive unless I really have no other choice.

Thanks

Well I can tell you one thing, nothing your son clicked on could have possibly casued this problem. You need to check to see if the drive is in the Disk Management Console.

    Right Click My Computer
    Select Manage
    Click on Disk Management

You may need to add a drive letter or other settings. If you need more help I need to know about this drive. Is it USB, Firewire or IDE.
