driver wont read disc

 :-? i am trying to burn some music to a cd but the cd burner drive wont even read the disc.does ani1 know why?i was able to burn dvd's with no probs a week ago.Plzz help.i'm not very gud wid computers! :-/

You are going to need to post a LOT more information regarding computer, operating system, burning software, did it ever work, and if so what happened, etc., etc. The more details the better.  ;)

Sorry iam new 2 dis.yes driver did previously work.i used 2 b able to burn dvds n cds wid no probs.i don't know wat went wrong. :-?

How  old  is the drive and has it had a lot of use? Sometimes the optics just give out, long before the mechanics (the drawer will continue to open and close)

You can get a lens cleaning kit (Available at computer stores, Wal-Mart, etc.)  to  see if this problem is a dirty lens. Can it read NO discs - CD or DVD?

the computer is only 2 yrs old!when i put the disc in the cd-r drive the light just flashes and nothing happens.i am unable to open anything until i eject the cd.also i just bought the cd lens cleaner.the drive played an original music cd but it just goes dead on me when i want to burn some music to the cd.

I think it's time for a new drive if you haven't been monkeying around inside the case. There is a reason the warranties on them are so short (90 days to 1 year at the most!) Luckily they are reasonably inexpensive.  ;)
