My PC won't boot

hi
i am new bie to this forum with a hope to find the solution for my problem.
i have a HCL PC with ASUS Mother Board, P IV , 256 MB RAM. it suddenly hanged when i was working, so i restarted my system. from there onwards it is not booting. even it is not showing any CMOS display screen, any error beeps even. i tested it by changing RAM, removing CMOS battery, changing SMPS.
but i have no clue. the CPU fan is running and LED on the mother board is glowing.

anyone pls help me

     sivakesav.......  What were you doing when it locked up ?
    Which operating system are you using ?

    Thanx for u r prompt reply.
    i was hanged when i was browsing net with IE. i am using WIN XP Prof. OS.
    More ever i connected the same HDD to some other CPU. It's working fine.
    i tried switching ON my PC without HDD. even of no use. CPU fan running, but no error beep,no display.

      Disconnect all peripherals hard drives ect and system adaptor cards in the base unit, except keyboard and mouse. Now turn on computer and tell me does it post, beep.

      if it doesent post you are looking at bord or processor, start off with the board
