I went into #computerhope today hoping for a nice conversation (maybe with carbontoast) and I was the only one in there, and I had op status. No hopebot.   makes me sad. Maybe I'm wrong. I can only hope.

Sorry to double-post, but I thought you should know:

I just got off chat with someone who needed assistance on whether or not the PC he was thinking of buying was good enough. (For his needs, it was.) Oddly, I found out that he had been trying to get help for 3 days. I think that's a sign we need to start using the chat room a little more often...

Well, somewhat the same here. I ran out of cool things to look at on the Internet, so I spend a lot of my time chatting with friends, checking email, and looking through posts here.

Is it per chance a Compaq laptop - about two years old? Those machines came with a defective ac psu/charger that tended to overheat and shut down and would not properly charge the battery. Compaq never made a recall on them even though they knew about the problem. They had the attitude that if it lasted long enough for the warrenty to expire, it was the customers problem.
