Getting Data off Dead Laptop Hard Disk

I have a dead laptop (Toshiba Satellite).  I would like to get the information off of the hard disk of the laptop (The hardisk is still okay).  Does anyone know where I can get  information on how to go about this?  Like a website that would give me some step by step instructions or at least the right direction to start in.

I had to do the same thing with my laptop, what i did was buy an I- Rocks IR-9200 2.5 " HDD ENCLOSURE. It makes your notebook hard drive into an external hard drive. and after you get your info off it, you can format it and use it as an external hard drive.

take the hard drive and put it in an external case, simple solution, AND yuu get a external hard drive out of it.
