cd rom install
« on: June 16, 2006, 11:32:36 PM »
i have an existing pc (old)
Computer 1:
win 98se (custom made)
P2 with dvd rom (cd burner)

and as of now im using:
Computer 2:
XP Sp2 (HP desktop)
P4 with cd rom (cd burner)

yesterday i transfer the dvd rom from Computer 1 to Computer 2 and vice versa

Porblem:
now when i restart the Computer2 the light in cd rom is blinking but i noticed that the DVD rom cant be access and cant be read (when i double click My Computers i see nothing regarding cd rom)

Question:
what i must do to repair this problem?
can somebody expplain me step by step?
is it needs to change something in the Bios? how do i get to Bios?

thanks in advance

homer

    -are the jumpers set correctly?
    -are the cables secure?
-does the cable that plugs into the mobo support ATAPI devices? (it happened to me once, stupid mistake...)

to enter bios, hit the key assigned to ur comp while its booting. ur comp should say what key to hit to enter setup. it should say something like "hit __ to enter setup", or "hit __ to enter BIOS config". mine is DEL, my last comp it was F1. there is a little variety.

P.S. was it working in the old comp? and does it still work if u put it back in the old comp?
