kernel32.dll problem!
« on: June 21, 2006, 09:39:41 AM »
Im new so hello. :) Plus I have a huge problem!

I want to play this game called soldat and when I try to play it, an error message comes up that says:

The procedure entry point MakeCriticalSectionGlobal could not be located in the dynamic library KERNEL32.dll.

So I went and downloaded the file to put into the system 32 folder and it says:

Error: The proccess can not access this file because it is being used by anether process.
Cannot create C\:WINNT\system32\KERNEL32.DLL.

Please help me!

I dont know if this helps, but Im using windows 2000 proffessional. I have Direct X 7. Ive gotten all the microsoft updates.

I don't thin Driect X is the problem here. How did we go in that direction? It could be  damaged or infected kernel32.dll file. What are you using for malware protection? Does everything else work OK?

Is this computer connected to the internet? And no virus/spyware protection? Please clarify this.

You need to get protected AND scan that machine pronto, but it may already be too late and time for a good old reinstall. Have a read:

Dang, it probably is to late. I should probably just totally swipe and reinstall. Is there a good site that lets you back up your files on some server?

Make sure you have SP2 applied and a firewall and an antivirus scanner running before you even connect the cord to get connected to the internet or you will be reinfected within seconds!  ;)

I totally swiped my computer and reinstalled everything and more. Im now protected with a bunch of virsus protection stuff. It fixed the problem with the dlls. Thank god. But when I go to play the game and I start playing a deathmatch with the other people it has a problem finding different textures and what not. So that is probably just a problem with the game.

Thanks a bunch for the help!

Glad you are all fixed up. Be sure and keep practicing safe computing.

Also you may want to check the game site for any patches and updates.  ;)
