I suggest you avoid a hosting service that requires you to pay for a year to get started.  By paying month-by-month, at least until you get some experience with a particular host and are satisified with them, you won't be locked in to something you're not satisfied with.  Agreeing to a multi-month contract can result in average lower monthly cost, but you can explore that option after you get some experience with a particular host and are satisified with them.

Here's one I'll suggest: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/.  I use it and have been satisfied with it.

Hmmm, http://www.mbhosting.com/about.php says "MB Hosting launched on June 13th, 2006."  That's less than 1 month and you're saying "Nothing els beats it".  Would care to explain the basis of your comment?

Visit http://www.mbhosting.com/about.php and note that "MB Hosting requires is that you post our Google Adsense ads on every one of your pages."  This may be fine, but at least you should be aware of that before making your decision.

No doubt, they do.  Otherwise, how could they offer truly free hosting?  If that's OK with the website publisher, then no problem.  However, ad-free hosting can be obtained at fairly low cost, around $4 or possibly lower, per month.

yoursite.com, or yoursite.net, or yoursite.org, etc.  The top level domain, the letters after the dot, depend on what doman name you register with a domain registrar, a step you must take before you can publish a site.  To register a domain name, I suggest godaddy.com.

I use totalchoicehosting.com for a site; I use their basic plan, which is $4/mo.  For more hosting services at this price level, see http://www.findmyhosting.com/searchresults.asp?page=1&op=1&ty=1&sid=1311954
