Seems you contradicted yourself there, unless I don't understand what you mean by "coding".  Can you clarify that?

By the way, here's an offer to save a little bandwidth with your two images:

Your current avatar is 14, 067 bytes.  Here's an optimized version of only 3,009 bytes:

Your current sig. block image is 17,857 bytes.  Here's an optimized version of only 7,319 bytes:

Well, if you don't know the code of html, then you don't know how to program HTML.  It's that simple.

Basically, you have two options; either learn HTML so that you can use a basic text editor like Notepad to code your HTML pages, or get an HTML editor.  I presume you would rather not incur the expense of buying a major web page development software, such as Dreamweaver.  Therefore, I'll mention a freeware program I've seen robpomeroy frequently recommend here in the forum.  It is Nvu.

If you want to learn some HTML so that could do the actual coding yourself - and your stated requirements would be a fairly simple HTML project - you can go to one of many online tutorials such as http://www.w3schools.com/html/, or go to library or bookstore and get a basic HMTL reference.

Well then, visit that site I mentioned.  Look at the list of links on the left column: HTML Links, HTML Tables, HTML Background, etc.  That should get you where you want to go, with some perseverence.  That site is a very good source.

Well, I can get a shortcut to Control Panel on my desktop but I don't know how to place it in an HTML file as a link.  Here's an interesting Google find on shortcut to Control Panel: Control Panel Shortcuts

The more I think about it, I'm beginning to wonder what the point of this exercise is.  Since you can have shortcuts to Control Panel, My Computer, and many other things on your desktop, why try to put them in an HTML file and then use it for your desktop?

Well, I believe I found it's location.  My Win XP is on drive F.  So, if I put  F:\WINDOWS\system32\control.cpl as the link to text, such as Control Panel, in an HTML file, it works.  However, when I click on the hyperlink, Windows displays a message saying: "Do you want to run or save this file?".  If I click on run, a second panel, a Security Warning,  appears saying: "The publisher could not be verified. Are you sure you want to run this software?"  I can then click on Run and Control Panel opens.

I believe this second panel, the warning, can be disabled, but I dont' know the details of how to do that yet.

i figured it out, i made a shortcut verison of my computer, and control panel, and created a link to them... i know, it seems pointless, but, to each is own... do you know how to make the tables i use align to the right side?

i tryed your control panel adress, chaned to to C: and .exe and it worked ;D thanks... now all i have to do is find the "my computer" exe...

OK, I see how that can work.  You still get the "Do you want to run or save this file?" message, don't you?

For left alignment, one method is to put an align "attribute" in your table data tag, such as:
 <td width="50%" align="left">&nbsp;</td>

I see what's going on with the "Do you want to run or save this file?" message.  If I open the HTML file containing the link to the shortcut, using Internet Explorer, I get that message.  If you set the file as the desktop background and use the link from there, I do not get the Security Warning message.

You obviously have two monitors, as do I.  Dual monitors shine for tasks such as testing web page fiiles.  I'm sure you agree.

yeah, they do, i plan to have a quad monitor system to start when i build my next computer. old CRT's are inexpensive, sometimes alittle rough around the edges, but they work fine, which is all i care about

You could put a couple monitors in that car too.

how about i drop a few monitors on your head? i have asked you many times not to bother me, why dont you listen? i belive that dropping a few heavy CRT monitors on your head would either kill you, or knock some sense into you, either option sounds good to me
