SATA Hard disk help
« on: July 04, 2006, 09:33:56 AM »
Hi,
Today I bought a Hitachi 80GB SATA hard disk. I connect it to SATA 1 and try to install Win XP. But lasly came a message saying No hard disk found.
During restart there was a line saying Raid - No device found, Non raid- ****** ( Hard disk ). while pressing the TAb there was a message in REd colour saying Cannot raid, need 2 disks. ( something like that ). one of my friends told me to disable RAID in Bios. But I can't find an option in Bios As SATA or RAID. ( Phoenix-Award winning ) My motherboard is MSI VIA P4M800 + 8237R Chipset PM8M2-V

Please help me soon.

You need to use the SATA drivers provided  at the manufacturer's web site. Press F6 when asked and insert the floppy.

also, if ur only using one SATA drive, u dont need to worry about anything related to RAID settings.

I'm sorry. I am using only one SATA hard disk, But I think RAID has been activated. I don't know how to disable it. By cmos verssion is Phoenix- award... v 6.00.
Unfortunately my Floppy driver doesn't work. Can I use Flash disk ( Portable storage device ) instead of it?
    Please help me.

Maybe a CD would be better. We don't know if that will work in your machine because you never posted specifics about it. If it can boot from USB, then maybe.
