xp boot problem

when i turn on the computer it asks me if i want to start windows normally, safe mode and all that...if i choose start windows normally it will go to windows xp where it like loads or whatever...then it will just go to a black blank screen

i got a built computer amd athlon xp 2400+
uhh i got xp professional
