Control + Enter Shortcut Disabled?
« on: September 04, 2004, 10:15:17 PM »
I used to be able to use the "Conrol+Enter" shortcut in Internet Exporer to automatically insert the "www." and ".com" after typing a keyword into the address bar. Unfortunately, it does not work anymore and now causes an MSN Autosearch feature instead. I've reloaded the program again, to make sure that no files were corrupted - but the shortcut still does not work. I am on Internet Explorer 6.0. Please Advise.

I had the same problem and this fixed it for me.

Using Regedit, browse to the following registry key and make sure the noted setting is correct:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoComplete]

"Append Completion"="yes"

You will also see the following values:

"Use AutoComplete"="yes"

"AutoSuggest"="no"

You may have autocomplete for web addresses turned off:
Tools > Internet Options > Content
Under Personal Information > AutoComplete > Make sure "Web addresses" is checked.
