Daughter changed default ISP - Lost All Emails
« on: July 14, 2006, 06:32:24 AM »
We have both Netscape and Internet Explorer on our computer.  Netscape is normally the default and that is where my husband accesses his fuse.net email.  My daughter prefers to work on Internet Explorer.  She changes the default frequently.  This usually does not cause a problem, however this time my husband lost all email that was saved.  Is there anyway to retrieve the lost emails?

I'm Sorry but i have no idea what you mean.

The Browser you use on the Internet has no bearing on your Emails

How do you check your Emails?..

Do you use the Email Client that Comes with Netscape?

Or is it a Website you visit to See them?

This is where my lack of knowledge of the actual workings of the internet/computer etc..  Unfortunately, I don't know the terminology well.  I will describe our situation.

We have Fuse.net  for our email. I believe it is also through Outlook.  We do not use the outlook icon on the desktop to access our email at home as I do at work.  We would log on to Netscape and click the envelope icon at the bottom of the screen and it would take us to our outlook/fuse (whatever) email.

My husband usually loads all that information and he understands the workings, but refuses to ask for help anywhere.  I think the fuse.net is the actual server we access when we log on, would the emails also be on their server?  I know at work we use roadrunner and our email comes through an outside group and is saved on their server.

I am trying to get a hold of him to get specifics and to give him this web address so he can carry on the conversation (if he will).  Please forgive me for being so dumb in this area.

ok , so from what you just Said,

I don't Think you Use Web based mail. you might be able to tho.

You use outlook in the Office , dose this still work?
You use The Netscape Mail Client at home.

When you Try to Check you Mail from Netscape what happens?
      does it not open?
or does it open and show you your old mail but no new mail?
or dose it open and its empty?

You may try going on to the fuse.net webpage and look for a check mail area, (their is one i just looked) this should work for now.
They might still have your mail if outlook and Netscape don't Delete on Retrieval

The info you need to Set it all up again is

      the Pop3 Server
      the SMTP Server
      Your Username
      And Your Password

And any port settings that might be nonstandard

We open the mail and it is empty after we reset Netscape as a default.
