Well, my computer career started with a TANDY running DOS 3.something (so only the prompt, no fancy shell) when I was 2. For some reason I've been fascinated by computers ever since I was a toddler. I must be a re-incarnated person who invented the PC.
So, I've been on computers ever since. From DOS to Windows 3.1 to 95, then 98, ME and XP. 13 years of experience with technology. I remember when I needed a 5 1/2 inch floppy to do anything useful (like play games). I mean, yes, we had a hard drive, but it was what, 20 MB? And for some odd reason I remember my mom telling me that we upgraded -- upgraded, mind you -- to a full 1 MB of memory. Not that I knew what that meant. So, yes, I know more about the inner workings of a computer than my average classmate -- nay, my average
teacher -- knows about how to use one.
Now, I have to make up for that boasting paragraph above.
Most of my knowledge of software and settings comed from me screwing up the settings. Things from setting the brightness to max, or setting the double-click speed to max (I really liked the max!), to something as extreme as putting a magnet on the CRT monitor or disabling the video card. I was a terror of the PC.
Now, I use what I learned to help others who were as inquisitive as me.
