printers can be very difficult at times, especially when you try to do anything other than print... if things are really bad and you're desparate, then just unplug the printer, uninstall any drivers, software, utilities, etc., and reboot. Now install the drivers, the any software etc., then plug in your printer and turn it on. now you SHOULD have a freshly installed and working printer.
