Game Source Code
« on: July 25, 2006, 07:19:37 PM »
I found a website that had a pretty large list of games that were open-source, freeware, or had their source code released.

What do I do with the source code to play the game? (Quake II)

Do you know what a compiler is? Do you have one? Do you know how to use it? If two of these questions are answered no, you are SOL.  ;)

      SOL?  :-?

      Well, I have a general understanding of what a compiler is, it's basically any program that let's you well, compile code in a certain programming language. So, even Notepad and Wordpad could be considered compilers I think... :-/

        Jesus! What have i got my Self in to...

        He Thinks Notepad is a compiler!

        This is going to like Diamond Mining with a Toothbrush thats Broken!

        Na Just Kidding. First you need a Compiler. Dev ++ is a Good one. First Go get that , if you can not get it by your Self you have Little Hope of Compiling any of Those Game's

        Now Remember Wax On Wax Off.. Circles I SAID Circles DAM IT!

          S.O.L. "Shoot, Outta Luck!" ;)

          EDIT: A compiler can be defined as anything which can turn source code into Assembler and thus create a program based on the code. So you can write code in Notepad, but you need a compiler like Dev C++ to make it work.

          Oh, thanks for all the help.

          Is Dev C++ free?

            I think he just wants a free game, rather than any interest in programming. Just file-share like the rest of us  ;)
