Hard Drive Accessing
« on: July 26, 2006, 10:01:50 AM »
Does anyone ever have an experience with their hard drive where it seems to be active for a second every 5 seconds. Sometimes is goes away but then comes back.
Like a tap drip.It is annoying in the least and am curious as to what is the cause. It began several days ago. I disable my internet connection and have no network and it still does it. Is it a virus that is embedded and is active even when not connected to the internet.
I have checked using AVG, AD Aware and SpyBot. Nothing!

Or is it some internal activity with the system. My task manager does not show anything unusual and CPU usage is at about 1 - 4%.
I have cold booted and it is back.
Thanks

That is often a sign of hard drive failure. I would check the drive with the free diagnostics you can download from the appropriate manufacturer's web site PRONTO!
