What's going on now? I don't think you needed to get the Intel driver, but probably no harm was done by downloading it.
If you're ready to try installing the sound driver from the Device Manager screen, open Device Manager, select Multimedia Audio Controller, right click on it and select Update Driver, then browse to the file you downloaded. When the panel appears asking you, "Can Windows connect ...", answer No. Go to next screen and select Install from a list or specific location. Then, browse to the downloaded file and let Windows install it. Let us know how it went.
By the way, when was the last time you had sound? Do you have a Restore date preceeding that date? What happened that caused your sound to malfunction?
