frames per second problems
« on: August 03, 2006, 10:06:41 PM »
whats up, im having a problem with my pc lately.  i have been experiencing drastic drops in my frames per second on a frequent basis (ie: it will be running CS perfectly at 70-90 fps, and 2 minutes later, will dive to 10 fps for 15 seconds or so.  it will then lock up for a second or two, and come back running at 70-90.  it will do this in frequent cycles of one or two minutes)  i thought it might be a problem with my videocard, but i am running an AOpen 6800gt that has been flawless up to this point.  i have a feeling my pc may be infected, but i was wondering if anyone might know the exact cause.  i have had the system for about 6 months, i defrag regularly, and scan with Grisoft AVG virus protection (which turns up nothing).

if it is a virus, can anyone direct me to a comprehensive means of fixing my problem?

for reference im running: AMD Athlon 64 3700+, 1 gig RAM, AOpen 6800gt, asus sli motherboard, seagate 7200rpm HD

again, it has run flawlessly up until a month ago or so, so i dont believe it is the hardware

any help would be much appreciated, thanks

Has anything in there EVER been overclocked? Especially recently.

You need to tell us anything u have changed.
This is probably not a Virus issue, but a Driver issue.
