Restart/Shutdown Problem

When ever i go to restart my computer or shut it down, it keeps freezing after all the icons on the desktop goes away, forcing me to shut it down manualy. This gets really annoing because i cannt do system restores.

Please help me fix this.

1) When was the last time you checked your HDD for errors?
2) Virus/Spyware/Adware/Trojan, etc. protection is up-to-date? Does it dhow anything?
3) How long has this been happening?
4) Does it happen in safe mode?

And are you sure you would want a system restore from a malfunctioning installation?

So please answer the questions as well as operating system and service pack installed, how long has this been happening and what preceeded this, do you have a real Windows CD or what,  and we will go from there.

This has been happening for about a week and i do have a windows cd(somewere)

Youve still got plenty of questions to answer before anyone can really come up with anything truly helpful, but I'd try scanning/defragging the hard drive, looks pretty full, maybe its just cluttered.

Try starting up and shutting down in safe mode. Same problem?
