HELP VERY MUCH NEEDED!

Hey

this morning whilst i was playing a game my computer changed to a screen that said:

I tried re-starting and it kept re-appearing. I havent installed any new software or hardware for about 2 months. The game i was playing has been running fine for over a year.

Is this a virus? If so could somebody please give me some help? If it is not could someone please point in the right direction to get some help.

The version of windows on my computer is XP professionl, version 2002, service pack 2

my computer details are AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor
2800+
1.84GHz, 512mb of RAM

The only other thing that has been happening in the last day or so is that my optical mouse keeps turning off and on whilst im using it. (by that i mean it keeps acting like it is being unplugged and then plugged back in, even though nothing is happening to it)

Any help will be greatly appreciated

ok what kind of protection do you have? anti-virus anti-spyware? do you have a real xp cd?

yeah sorry about the other post.

I have EZ Antivirus as my protection but everytime i try to run it or run anything the screen comes up again!

Its not an original cd version of XP either

ok well u need an xp cd just incase you have to reformat, but we might be able to fix this issue. can you get to your account?

i use a-adware and spybot search and destroy also ewido.

but have a read if you can get onto your main account that has the admin rights to install programs

lol can you log on to your account( your desktop, but make sure you can install programs on it.)

i have gone to the link and downloaded the stuff u use but i dont know how to switch off system restore?

right click my computer>go to properties>restore tab> check the box that say turn off restore

i have downloadd all the virus checkers etc. I ran two of them but the screen came up again half way through adaware.

However the text has changed. It now reads:
'KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

and in tech info it says:

'ADDRESS F85DA6F2 BASE AT F85DA5000, DATESTAMP 41107B59'

should i just keep trying to virus scan it or is my computer truelu messed up?

do you have any important documents on the computer?

unfortunately yes. about 700 pictures, 1500 songs, and all of my university degree work

ummm.. ok and you rebooted in safe mode rgiht..

try running ewido.

i re-booted in safe and tried ewido and it crashed to that screen again 3/4 of the through! im starting to think this is gonna cost me a bit!

anything i can try before i give up?

umm.. have you tried reseting the bios?

im afraid my pc tech ability doesnt stretch that far! how do i do it?

if i do i wont lose any files etc will I? sorry for sounding like the forest gump of the pc world! lol
