Problem with scanner

Scanner won't work after using printer. Error messages says 'Port may be used by another device'

     jessica.....is this something that has just started ? What kind of connection does the printer and scanner use ie. serial , parallel or USB  and have they both been working ok up until this issue. What operating system are you using?

    Yes this only started they are connected with each other. its a parallel, and they have been working fine. I'm using Windows 98SE

      jessica......exactly what do you mean they are connected with each other ?

      If the printer is connected to the parallel port on the motherboard ....where does the scanner connect ?

      scanner connected to computer, printer conected to scanner, and they all work through even if i just use one, but now it don't...
