Windows does not download from internet

I'm having a problem with windows,whenever i downlaod any thing from the internet my computer just restarts.I'm using windows xp with SP2.AMD Sempron 2200+ 1.5Ghz 512mb Ram.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
