Looking for a cool, free game
« on: August 09, 2006, 05:47:37 PM »
I am looking for a really cool legal free game that will take up my time for when I get bored.
I have Legends, but I seriously suck at it, and Nesuikes doesnt work on my computer.
Any ideas?

Well it would depend on what genre you're looking for. RPG? FPS? RTS?

In any case, go to Wikipedia and search "List of Freeware Games". The search term should hint in on what it will turn up for you  ::)

If you like FPSs, then I suggest trying Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory   ;D

I had a nostalgia period a while ago, after discovering an Amiga Emulator. Bought back some good memories. You'd be quite suprised about how enjoyable some of those old games actually are, even with today's graphical nonsense.

I suppose why I am looking for the higher graphics games is because I got tired of playing those fun old games.
I was always downloading from www.dosgames.com

          Quatroking's links were great!
I downloaded the "Americas Army" game... pretty interesting. But training is a bit tedious.

It got boring quickly. Apparently, with the craptastic controls in it, I "Couldn't complete the obstacle course quick enough"
You have to reach from all over the keyboard and use the house and the numeric pad all at the same time. WHEW!

Have you tried ZZT? It's a DOS-based GCS that uses ASCII graphics. It's awesome. And there's the spun-off MegaZeux http://www.digitalmzx.net but that's Windows based. I love it.
