Data Execution Prevention
« on: August 19, 2006, 06:37:24 PM »
Okay, I hope this is the right section...Well, since yesterday, every time I start my computer and log in I get a message. The title is Data Execution Prevention, and it says: To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program.  Name: Generic Host Process for Win32 Services Publisher: Microsoft Corporation. The only button says Close Message. There is also a footer saying "Data Execution Prevention helps protect against damage from viruses and other security threats. What should I do? (What should I do is a link) Anyways, I press Close Message and it gives me the option to "Send Error Report" in a new window. No matter what I press from there, it always goes back to the Data Execution Prevention window. Any ideas on what to do?

When you say Norton, you do mean Norton's firewall, not just Norton anti-virus, right?

Actually, you should not have two firewalls running.  They can conflict with each other.

Did this error message start after you started running two firewalls?

For Norton I have "Internet Security" and "Protection Center." As I said, I have been having this problem since yesterday.

Sorry, but the only thing I can suggest is to do some reading in some Google results for Generic Host Process for Win32
