Im having freezing problems...help please!

Hi, im having problems with my computer, it doesnt just freeze like permanatly.  It freezes in sequences, like for instance ill move my mouse from one side of the screen to the other, and it will stop like 4 times in sequence, i dont understand, sometimes the computer just runs normally and i dont have this problem. Can anyone help me!!

"Sometimes"? As in "every 5 mins"? Or "Everytime I'm using my DV editing software while playing an Unreal Tournament deathmatch over the internet?"

Basically I'm saying that it sounds as if this only occurs when the PC is being strained. This happens on most people's PCs,  and the only two things you can do is upgrade the hardware or try to close programs down after yourself.

Scan for viruses, trojans and spyware.

Better maintain your PC:

• Defragment harddrives/partitions
  
• remove redundant files
  
• Cleanse registry
  
• uninstall programs no longer needed
  

Remove dust from the inside of the case that may be affecting performance.

Doesn't matter wheter you play videogames or not.

If you have not cleaned your PC case for a long time then it is very likely that a lot of dust is preventing your CPU fan or any other type of fan/heatsink from doing it's job properly.

With a program such as Advanced System Optimizer V2

When was the last time you ran Defrag and ScanDisc?
Try that and see if it works.  A lot of times Win98 problems can be solved simply by doing a shutdown and restart three times in a row.
