can't get out of safe mode for laptop with XP
« on: August 29, 2006, 04:13:44 PM »
I've got a work laptop that contracted the Trojan virus. Since I was unable to remove it with my lack of technical skills I thought I'd try putting in safe mode. Well I changed it to safe mode, rebooted and now I can't get out of safe mode so that I could access my desktop. Nothing happens. I just get a black screen that says "safe mode" in all four corners. I did a search on the website here and could not find an answer to my problem.

I tried hitting F8 so that I could have the lap top run in normal mode but that still doesn't help the problem.

This is a work computer and I need assistance so that I'm not charged for any type of repairs a shop might have to do. I'm guessing that I'm just not doing something right. Can anyone help? :-?

I don't know what a "trojan virus" is, but it sounds like you should not have had the laptop at home.  :o

I'm sure your work IT guys are better at this, but have a read:
