HELP ME W/ new mobo....
« on: September 06, 2006, 02:50:32 PM »
k so some of you might know that a while ago i bought the wrong ram for my computer http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=014&item=330009444795&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1 (and got flamed heavily for it) anyways i decided to just completly rebuild my computer since it needs a heavy upgrade anyways so i was wondering if someone can help me find a compatible mobo to accomidate the ram. its for a gaming pc so im still unsure if i want to go amd or pentium. ive already searched on newegg.com and the mobo's arnt too specific on the ram info. but also heres the thing my buddy is selling his computer for 500$ http://www.socaleuro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14945 so should i just buy his or spend the 500$ and rebuild mine? technically all i need is a mobo thats compatible with the ram, a new processor, and a new hdd. thanks everyone !

If I'm not mistaken, on Newegg's site when you check out a motherboard you think might work, you choose the specifics/details (whatever ;D) & it should tell you the type of RAM the board will accept.  If it matches you're...volia! your in  :o

tvarmy04..... Methinks your making a huge mistake attempting to build a box around the ram.............. Thats like designing a new car based on the spare tire ....... It makes no sense .
I would be more inclined to build the box around the mobo ....... but it's your time and money .....

If you don't know the answer, it isn't a dumb question.

SPEND 300.00 more after your ram purchase and your system should be great!
His looks pretty good >his asking price was 600.00 u said  500.00  (It's tough cause his graphics card is sweet~  but if u can be ok with say an AMD 64, 250 gig hd, and 125.00 mobo..... i'd build it*
the internal HD at Newegg are priced nice.............

The ram u bought is ok,  YES

ok,  "IF" you bought the 2 sticks (pc3200)  1 gig each of ram, thats all you can put in this mobo. You will have  512 extra gigs of ram if you purchase this thing. The mobo only has 2 slots for the ram with a maximum 2 gigs allowed.
The front end bus on this mobo is pretty decent  though newer models get much higher. If your not a overclock freak it would be plenty fine mobo. It has a PCI-E slot and  an AGP pci  for an updated video card,  from my reading there is NO installed video chip on this motherboard, u will need a gaphics card.
I think it's still an awesome buy for that  cpu and hardware & decent case, psu is a maybe?, the optical drive speeds are little slow but oh-well.  See what others think after me.........
          happy shopping~ :-/

That is awesome! Let us know here at the forum how your purchase went & how awesome them dual Pentiums run?/ with that company (maybe not mention them) we'll remember, I 'm curious. I "usually purchase from an  egg company ;-O...
Do- the rebates as soon as you get the material or online NOW if possible. It can take quite awhile to get your $$ back. Don't ever ask me what kinda graphics card to get on this forum, I am the laughing stock here because of the one I bought-though I am really not a gamer! ok sit down*
Nvidia GeForce 7300GS 256mb , if you ask the gamers here they will tell you it wont even run ms.pacman!   :D
