Well I made this same mistake with exactly the same card. Does your current motherboard have a build in video solution? if so  then you should uninstall it before you put in a new crad. Also make sure that your monitor is connected to the graphics card not the motherboard built-in video solution. Also make sure your card is firmly slotted in

The power specs on the unit are as follows: Antec brand,350 watt power supply model # SL350.I am running the ATI Rage pro card because I had to replace the old power supply, and that caused my existing card to not work(or maybe it went out?).I was hoping to upgrade to the FX 5200,as it seemed a better card.....

A HDD, 2 optical drives and a newer vid card...350W is on the low end for a PSU.

Price out some new ones at a minimum of 450W.

    patio.   8-)

p.s. Don't buy a cheap one...you will have nothing but grief

350 Watt is enough, actually. But it may indeed be a low end PSU that hasn't got 350 watt true-power.

I estimate with this calculator that you need around 257 Watts.

It could be the PSU, which should be replaced none the less, but since booting the PC only causes minimal load, are you certain the card is properly inserted and is it a brand new videocard or second hand?

Good, then it should be alright. Go about finding a proper PSU, then.

I believe you meant you think your motherboard does not have built-in, i.e. integrated or onboard, video.  Right?  And, I believe you are wrong on that point.  This reference, Shuttle AK32V/N, with an image of the motherboard connectors on back, clearly shows a VGA port, meaning it does have onboard video.  Therefore, you may need to check BIOS settings.  Some systems with onboard video will automatically disable it when an add-on video card is installed, but many systems require manual disabling of onboard video via a BIOS setting.

Sorry to burst your bubble but i was just reading in my Graphics design magazine that the GeForce FX 5200 is no longer even supported by the manufacturers...

id reccomend at least an Nvidia 6800

Not supported doesn't means it won't work. Although it doesn't work in this case  :P  we have yet to determine why. It might not be the fault of the card at all. It's no good recommending "at least" a 6800 when the person has already bought a card and might not want or be able to pay so much for it.
