Losing user account Icon in Windows XP
« on: September 16, 2006, 11:23:40 AM »
Help please.  I keep losing one of my user account icons.  I am running windows xp, sp2 on a dell dimension 2350. If I go thru Start, Explore, and the C drive, the account is still listed there.  I just keep losing the Icon from the desktop page.I have tried using system restore but it doesn't hekp.  Can someone please help as I am not too smart about these things.  Thanks, David

What type of account is this? Sometimes there is a hidden admin account for "emergancy" usage that only appears in safe mode. Look in User Accounts in control panel.

What do you mean by "desktop"?  Is the icon vanishing from the Welcome screen?
Only able to visit the forums sporadically, sorry.

Sorry, I said the "desktop" and meant the "welcome screen".  Yes, it's gone but if I do a search thru the "C" drive,  the account is still there.
