Not sure what you mean by "tiny little square" - any chance of a screenshot?  Have you tried right-clicking?

This problem CAN be fixed, but a bit more information would be helpful.  :)
Only able to visit the forums sporadically, sorry.

    Thanks for your response;I did finally solve the problem. Briefly, I was told to download a municipal gov't. form to amend a wage tax return. I found the site, saw a list of forms, left-clicked the proper form, and got a blank screen with a tiny block at the left top screen. The block contained a square, a triangle, and a circle. When I tried to open this, nothing happened. Thus, my poorly phrased question. Solved it by right-clicking the proper form title in the list, saved target as a file in My Pictures, and opened it with Acrobat Reader. Anyway, problem solved and I learned something new. Again, thanks so much for your response.
