Sorry if this is a stupid newbie question.
Long story short, something happened with my old computer (eMachines eTower 500ix) and when I start up, I get the Windows 98 installation screen (like when I purchased the computer and booted up for the first time). I am assuming that if I go through the process, it will reinstall Windows and wipe out the files in My Documents, etc.
Is there a way to transfer these files to another computer while in command prompt only mode so that they aren't lost? I tried a USB flash drive, but it couldn't be detected. Some files are too big to copy onto a floppy disk to transfer.
