does anyone know if there is any freeware progs. out there that will temporarily shut down all background programs running while i am rendering a dvd project.
i have windows xp home o/s.

Your DVD conversion app should allow you to prioritize the CPU.  What are you using?

THANKS FOR RESPONDING- I AM USING PINNACLE STUDIOS 8'S OWN BURNING FACILITIES BUT AUDIO / VIDEO SYNCH IS OUT SO I THOUGHT SHUTTING DOWN RUNNING PROGS MAY HELP!!

Ok, when you say rendering do you mean copying to a disk or ripping from a disk.

copying to a disc joleen!- the studio 8 software renders your completed project to dvd format before burning to dvd ;)
