    FTP client prob
    « on: September 23, 2006, 02:21:42 PM »
I recently got a host and am trying to set up my FTP.  I can connect through my CuteFTP (for mac) to my host, but then it won'thttp://www.computerhope.com/yabbfiles/Templates/Forum/default/huh.gif accept my host username and password.  (for FTP)

Is this a common problem?  How do I troubleshoot this?  I've typed in my usernm & psswrd several times.  I've rechecked that it is correct and that it is for my FTP use.

I believe you contradicted yourself.  If your username and password have not been accepted, then you have not connected.  Are you saying you actually see CuteFTP say "connected"?

Try it without a username and password (guest) first and see if the FTP server actually works.

thanks guys.  Actually, the nameservers provided by the host were wrong.  I had to use my IP address as my domain name.  My username and password were correct. ;D
