« on: September 23, 2006, 04:44:16 PM »
ok .. so i want to buy a PC and i am not really good at knowing any hardware and stuff so i turn to you guys  :-/
i just want to buy a PC (not with a monitor nor mouse nor keyboard.... just the  "box"  ;D )

so can you help me out with selecting a few parts for my PC? (for example: "you should get #%@$#^@ mother board & #%@$^$@  graphichs card... because .....  and stuff like that, ow... and if you could say the prices of your parts that would be awsome.) you can go as high as 1500 Euro(living is Spain) .. i think that should be enoght to get a nice PC.

so ? any ideas? please  ::)

What do you want to use this computer for? Office work? Games? Play a lot, or not a big part of your life? Examples of games and programs you'd be likely to use would be helpful. Then we might be able to suggest components better suited to your needs.

We could name all sorts of hardware but it probably wouldn't do you any good, I'll give you my gaming set up which works fine with Battlefield 2 and is ready for Battlefield 2142:

      Asus A8NSLI
1024 x 2 DDR Twinmos (Dual Channel kit)
      Asus 7600GT Silent
Western Digital 200GB HDD 7200RPM/16MB Cache SATA II
      Audigy 4 Soundblaster
      G7 Logitech laser mouse
      Microsoft comfort ergonomic 4000 keyboard
AMD Athlon XP 3200 64 bit.
      Zalman 460 (Watt) APS silent

I plan on buying a Western Digital 10.000 RPM HDD and a dual core AMD Athlon processor soon, plus I would have bought the Asus A8N-SLI mainboard with passive northbridge cooling but I was stupid enough not to.. That'll get you a decent machine below 1500 euros.

Oh yeah, and a Raptor gaming mousepad ofcourse.  :)

thx raptor that will help me a bit :)

i already found a PC with some really nice stuff (like 3giga ram DDR2, 500 giga HDD, graphics card g force 7200 something.. i dont remember.. something about 7200 or 7800 what ever... procesor dual something.. lol i told you that i am lame at hardware parts) and it costs 1200 euro.  i think that would make a nice PC for games and such. however i said, if you can buy that with 1200 then i'll throw down 300 more and buy another PC maybe better by parts. you know if you take it already build you have 1 part good and another not so good, that's why i asked for the info of all parts and estimated 1500 for all ... and maybe maybe make it better then that :)

3 gigs of ram is unnessisary. Look for one that has less ram but a faster graphics card. You'll need to be more specific. 7200 or 7800 whatever indeed, that number could make or break a computer.

Why do they always advertise it as "Genuine" Windows XP.. I mean a big company is hardly going to give out pirate copies are they.

Money. They get to sue people selling counterfeit ones for more. Other people selling "genuine windows xp" get sued for misrepresentations, damaging trademarks, and who knows what else. That's on top of the regular copyright infringement stuff.

Other than that I agree with you. I've been brought up to believe anyone selling "genuine XYZ" has got to be a spammer scammer.
