DNS error msg. to one website only
« on: September 29, 2006, 02:52:44 PM »
Hi, I have a website for gifts that I am suddenly unable to access, but other people still can from other computers. I was told to try a DNS flush, which I did and it temporarily worked. Then today I can't open the page again. I have tried using spyware and malware programs, defragging, restarting, etc.  I desperatly need to be able to get on my site, but have no idea what the problem is. I can't access it through the control panel of the host server either. Everything I have tried I still get a DNS error message.

I did all the things you have outlined, and there is no change. I have Internet Explorer, and also tried to access the page through Firefox with no luck. The person who told me to do the DNS flush is the support guy where the site is hosted.

Nothing happens. I still get the DNS error message & still can't access the site.

Have you checked with your own ISP to make sure they're not blocking it?
Do you know someone else well enough to let you 'borrow' their ISP for a test?
They could change their password for the test then put it back after you tried it.

What message do you get when you attempt to access the website?  It would help if you could bring up a command prompt a show the results of running the command ping www.babyswaddlecakes.com

How do you mean 'borrow' ISP?  :-?

Easy Raptor, if I gave you my ISP's dialup number, my username & password you could 'borrow' my ISP account to try it out.
If the OP's ISP is blocking the site for whatever reason then this tell us.
My ISP has blocked a few sites over the years due to DoS attacks.
Of course if the OP still had a problem while using a different ISP then it must be something to do with their own setup.

Ah, but you're on dial-up. Most of us have passed the stone-age by now, Fed.  ;)

Would you believe that I can get a much faster connection for less money but I'm too slack to do it?
Right now I'm paying for 2 dialup accounts for 2 computers that are 3 metres apart plus the cost of calls everytime we dial in.
Cable, asdl, broadband, networking, routers, hubs, *censored*, bla bla bla, it's all too hard so I keep dialing :-[
