    Problem installing from CD
    « on: October 01, 2006, 11:46:11 AM »
i have this annoying problem when trying to install from CD.  i insert the CD, autorun pops up and i press install like normal.
but insted of the game installer come up i get a HP Image Zone Plus updater pop up insted and no game installer  :-/

i've tried both options, "Uninstall" and "Add a device" and i've tried to cancel it, but nothing happens.
getting a refund is not an option since the shop will not accept refunds for software issues.
i've tried to install online and offline but the Image Zone updater still pops up.
really not sure what to do, i've always had Image Zone apear when trying to install a game, but i'd normaly just press Cancel and the game install would carry on but this time the game install cancelles aswel and i can't get around it

i've had a look on google and there seems to be loads of people having issues with Image Zone so i thought of deleting it, but the thing is it came with the computer in a package and i need it for my digital camera, i think..

hope someone can make sense of this, i'll copy n' paste this as an e-mail to HP aswel, but i've found computerhope very useful before and i'm getting impatient to play this game  :P

    i'm running WinXP with SP2.
the game is Civilization IV and it's Image Zone Plus 4.2 i'm having problems with

thanks in advance for any help

Right click on your DVD/CD-ROM drive and select "properties" from there go to the "Autoplay" tab and then set each option to "Ask me what I want to do each time".

      See if that resolves it.

Remove the program from your computer using add/remove software, then.

The HP Image software is waiting for you to install a device...until you do that or remove the Image Zone software as Raptor suggested this error message will persist.
Did you recently install a printer ? ? Possibly an all in one unit ? ?

i knew it would be something simple that i forgot :-X
i just needed to do explore CD, then double click the setup.exe, insted of using autorun like i'm used to doing.

the problem is still there though of not being able to use autorun...
but that doesn't matter, to *censored* with it, the games installed
          sorry about that ;D

removing the program is not and option since it came with the machine as a package and i have no CD for it.
and no, i have not recently installed a printer.
guessing this is one for HP to resolve themselfs  :(

Why do you need a CD to uninstall it?

Ted2, that screen print you posted in Reply#1 is 23,334 bytes, which is good for that size image, but your avatar is 46,438 bytes.  It could be reduced to file of less than 3KB and still look the same.  Let me know if you'd like more info on getting your avatar down to a sensible file size.   :)
