    Can anyone tell how to stop Windows XP Home from restarting, when I go to shutdown it tells me that Windows is closing down, but then just reboots each time.

    Does your Event Log show any possible cause :-?  Could be that an error is occurring during shutdown and you have the auto restart feature enabled.
