Microsoft Visual Basic minor glitch?
« on: October 08, 2006, 04:19:47 AM »
XP home updated to Pro

When I open word I get a small dialogue box with a big red button with a white X on it in the left of the box, dialogus states, Microsoft Visual Basic, Active X Component, can't create object. When I click the OK button(square one) it goes away and opens word, this is not a major problem but is slightly annoying as I don't know what it is talking about, do I live with it, can I stop it or what, any ideas

Have you installed all the latest Microsoft updates including Direct X 9.0C?

Why is everyone here trying to relate Active X to Direct X?

Those are two different things!

Scan for spyware and viruses. Stop using Internet Explorer, start using Firefox.

BtYahoo, what is that?

Disregard my last comment regarding Active X/Direct X. I was being negligent.

BT Yahoo is a british browser from BT( British Telecom ) the phone company that I get my phone  & Broadband  from, I've just run an AVG free and an AD-AWARE as I often do regularly and found nothing apart from some cookie stuff

Are you sure they have their own Browser? I'd use Firefox none the less, though.

If I were you I would reinstall office. I don't see what different the browser you use makes.

some one recently told me that it runs on top of Internet Explorer, so if that's true I guess it's not their own, what's so great about firefox and is it likely to sort out this opening word glitch

No, doubtful, I lost track of the topic until Neil refreshed my memory.

    Just try reinstalling Microsoft Office.

But I'd still use Firefox instead of IE, though.  ;)
