Looking for login system
« on: October 11, 2006, 11:07:47 AM »
Hi,

Does someone know where I can find, for free, a huge login system. It should be able to do the following things

*login/loguit
*register
*admin page
*possibility to send PM (personal messages to eachother)
*possibility to have access levels (example: only someone of acces level 3 can visit that page, only some1 of access level 1 can visit that page..)

I googled a long thime yet, but I dont find such system (especially not the pm future)

Does some1 know where I can find suck script for free?
Everybody knows you can't click here. But I know you will try it :)

There are scripts for that?  :o

What you're speaking of sounds like a forum to me, why not try YaBB?

lol I really DO NOT need a forum, I just need it to password protect a few things on my site and give some ppl a few extra possibilitys, I don't want to remake my whole website in YABB!

Code it yourself - you'll be so proud once you've finished!  :)

That's an option. But I don't want to, I'm just looking for an existing script

You have some fairly specific requirements though.  I would be surprised if you can find exactly what you're looking for.  You might like to try a content management system though, which will do a lot of these things and more.  Drupal, Plone, Wikiwiki, Joomla, Mamboserver, Postnuke, etc, etc.

Yes, I would use PHP.  I am currently developing a bespoke content management system for the I.T. company I work for.  PHP is perfect for this kind of job.

Ya know what, I have beeen looking for just that!!
Except only the highlighted parts.

I also thought of learning a bout php, but I know nothing at the moment and don't feel like going through the same grueling experience I had to go through when I was trying to learn javascript! I didn't actually get that far. Halfway though I decided to quit because it was so confusing! I guess I could have a go at php so can someone give me a good tutorial site?? I don't feel like googleing it cos then I find way to many and don't know which one is the best!

Like Rob said, get a content manager... I suggest (like Rob) Drupal. It was somewhat simple to set up. There site has a demo somewhere.
