Non-premium Hotmail/MSN Users -- Read This
« on: October 12, 2006, 07:05:56 PM »
If you are a user of a non-premium Hotmail or MSN (or @live.com/@passport.com) account, and would like to use Outlook Express instead of accessing Hotmail through its web interface (www.hotmail.com) you might want to read

First off, no, Non-Premium accounts cannot be accessed Via Outlook without thridparty (not always secure) (and sometimes subscription required) software that is semi illegal.

Secondly, Microsoft just created a program that will access your computer through a program.
Thirdly, this is still BETA software, but easily available.

Please check it out, its much better than the Web Interface, it doesent look bad either
http://www.ideas.live.com/programpage.aspx?versionid=6ac2bed2-b5a4-4a0a-a897-e36dd191a9f4

Below is a description of the program from Microsoft
Quote
What it is

A program that lets you get e-mail from multiple accounts in one place.

What it gives you

• Speedy access to multiple e-mail accounts in one place (even AOL and Gmail) • The power of desktop software with the flexibility of Web-based e-mail • A way to get your newsgroups and RSS feeds as easily as you get e-mail • The ability to compose, delete, and organize e-mail even when you're offline • A massive 2 GB* of online inbox storage • Address AutoComplete and other handy features to let you speed through your e-mail like never before • The power to instantly add an MSN® Spaces blog entry about any message • Keep in touch with your MSN® Messenger contacts right from inside the program • Easy creation and editing of photo e-mails
* 2 GB = 2,000,000,000 bytes

BTW: I myself tried it out, and happened to like it. Its free since it has a advertisement bar on the side of the program, just like the banner ads of the Web Interface Hotmail Access.

Try it out

Why would I need another type of program to receive E-mail? I've got my E-mail client for that..

Another brilliant idea from Microsoft.  :-X

Its probably stolen property. Like a stolen car - repaint, add pin stripes, change the vin, and voila - how do like my new car!

    You don't trust Gmail?

I don't use Yahoo either. That company has always been associated with spyware in my eyes. Crappy toolbars and lots of pop-ups.

If you've had the account for the last five years (or was it three) Microsoft did not cut your OE support...

Everything about MS is weird....... except the money. You've got, they want it, and if they can gouge it out of you, they will.
