like a bought one
« on: October 16, 2006, 07:47:04 AM »
Hi All,
I am in the process of downloading an " old Abandonware game " I want to know, after I have downloaded it how do I burn it to disk like a game you buy in the shops today  :-?
In other words what I want to do is put it on disk so that it has to be installed like a bought game and the contents of the disk look like any other "new" game that you can buy today. As this game is abandonware there is no protection, but it was a commercial game once.  ;D
If anyone is curious, or to save answering the question, the game is " Axis & Allies Iron Blitz Edition " :P
 Thanx in advance ;)

you can't unless it's an .ISO. Which I doubt it is since it's abandonware.

You could probably still find the game for sale on Ebay.

Yeh, if u want to pass it around u dont have to "burn it to a disk". Just put it on a floppy.

If u want, u CAN burn in ON a disk, but that would be a waste cause its much too small, if it's abandoned.

      Thanks guys,
I guess I will just have to play it like it is.
Its no big deal, its just that having it like " A bought one " would have  been nice ::)

Sorry a bit off topic but how do you even find out a game has turned to abandonwear?

There's a website that checks that out, it protects games that aren't .. EPA or something it's called, but surf a few abandonware websites and you'll find out soon enough..

It's been a while since I've done this (win95SE), but I believe you can make the game auto run (like a store bought) by doing the following:

Create a .txt file called "autorun" (or is it "autoplay"??...) and put 2 lines in it:
Copy <CD-ROM Name> to <Where you want game to install>
Run <Directory from above> setup.exe (or whatever the install file is called)

Change the file extention to .ini and add that file to a CD along with all the game files.  When you put the CD in the drive, the game will automatically run/install.

Like I said, it's been YEARS since I've done this, so you might want to google on the correct way to make a CD autoplay.
