Creating bootable floppy for formatting.
« on: October 19, 2006, 01:11:19 PM »
Hello, Ive been searching online for awhile for a way to create a bootable floppy. I have an old computer with win98 on it and I want to create the floppy for a quick and easy way to automatically formatting my drives. Imessed around with creating a batch file and all I put in it was

@echo off
format c:

I have two questions really I guess, the first is whether or not that batch will work, and two if it will work how do I get it to load automatically when I start the computer with the floppy in it.

Travel to bootdisk.com and grab the Win98SE custom boot disk...extract it to a clean floppy and you should be good to go.

Will that only wipe the disk or wipe it and begin the installation of win98. I only want it to wipe it totally, without installing it again.

It will only wipe it.
Boot with the floppy in after you have created it...

At the A: prompt type format C: /u and hit Enter.
