    Word very slow to save
    « on: October 20, 2006, 04:39:47 AM »
    Hey,

Can anyone help with my problem:

I am trying to save a word document, which is around 10MB in size and is worked on over the network. The file takes about 5 minutes to save, sometimes the document just freezes during a save not allowing me to do anything.

I have checked the network and it isnt a problem with that, i have also checked my computer and there doesnt seem to be a problem with that.

Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it?

    Thanks,
    G

That would be about 2 MBps per minute.

I don't really think that is slow. What kind of HDD/OS are you writing to and what type of network do yo have

      Wanna bet?

Raptor's questions + are you attempting to run the network in full duplex?

we are running 100Mbps Full Duplex.

The server is also in the same building, if that helps any.

          Full Duplex.
There's one of your problems then.  Far more collisions on the network at full duplex.  It's a false economy, except on networks with only two computers.  Switch to half duplex on all entwork cards.

That was uncalled for. It was obvious that Rob was speaking of an antwork card which houses the queen of the network.

Silly boys.  Have you not heard of the Ents?  The people of the trees?  The communicate by thought; so obviously an entwork is nature's equivalent of wireless networking.
