video card problems
« on: October 22, 2006, 10:46:49 PM »
i use windows xp media center edition and my pc is brand new (3 weeks old)
today all of a sudden when i opened the media center i got a mesage saying that

"your video card or drivers are not compatible with media center."

but yesterday it worked fine...
so i restore some ATI graphic cards and drivers and reinstall
so i restart my pc and the screan resolution is BIG
so i go to my desktop properties and go to settings and its in a different way that it used to be, like if it was disconfigured or something and then i change the resolution so my screen is smaller
(heres a pic)
heres  a pic of both display opcions:
and for both:
the 1, and 2 example window used to be diferent, and there used to be one and it was an example of a window...
i dont remember seeing the display opcions
and i dont remember seeing the 2 check boxes

there used to be less screen resolution opcions

there use dot be more resolution opcions
im currently using this one.

then the media center doesnt get the error anymore...

so is this good or bad (as in, is my graphics card working?

What make and model of PC is this? (I would guess HP, but I'm not in a guessing mood.) Are there two video outs on the adapter?

HI
while I'm sure anyone here will be happy to help, if your pc is only a few weeks old I would get support from where ever you bought it.
You may have even paid extra for support/warranty.
Usually they will not cover software faults but as it's only a few weeks old they might.

HELP ME OUT HERE GUYS !!!

My emachines T3422 came with the same integrated graphics on my mobo. This sounds like you might have changed something inadvertently or possibly I hope did not go into the bios and played around, don't know. The 200 chip is farely stable from what I have read and experienced prior to my 7600gt upgrade, last  thing would be the simple system restore cd that came with your puter.  I did have to do that myself but was a trojan problem. Keep plugging at this should be correctable.  Stronger minds here should be able to get down to this problem.   :-/

If it's 3 weeks old you wouldn't need an extended warranty...

Both your screen prints show two monitors, but that seems inconsistent with your onboard video.  How many monitors do you have connected to the computer?  Has this (the # of monitors) remained the same since you got the computer?
