printer installation troubleshooting windows xp

Hello,
       I am having trouble installing my printers. I get a message that the printer spooler has not been found, or printer driver has not been installed. Yet I am not able to install or troubleshoot either. Can you help?

julia jackson.....  Perhaps you could assist us in helping you........ How many printers are you attempting to install ?
What make and model are they .
Do you have the printer installation sheets for each of them ?
Do you have the installation cds which should have come with them?
Are these printers new or have they been working on your system previously ?

Also, are these printers connected directly to your computer, or are you trying to connect to them via a network?  What type of computer connection do they use, USB or Parallel port?
