IDE hard disk showing as SCSI
« on: October 28, 2006, 05:09:51 AM »
Hi a couple of days ago I took the plunge and built my own system which consists of.

E6300 dual core.
GA-965p-ds4 motherboard
700w ezcool infinity power supply
Gainward 7900gs vga
Corsair value 667 1gb mem
samsung sata dvd drive

I have used my hard drives from my previous case which are both ata drives (120g ibm deskstar as master IC35L120 and a MAXTOR 250g 6L250RO as slave). When I intially stated up the system it would not boot into windowsxp home and i had to do a reinstall as I wanted to keep all the info.

The pc now boots fine into windows but seems very slow I have done a online test at pcpitstop and it is reporting that my hard drives are running exceptionally slow. After looking at device manager they are both showing a scsi devices. I have tried checking the jumper settings and reinstalling IDE controllers to chnge this, but no success.

Do you think that this problem of IDE disks showing as scsi is slowing my system

Any pointers would be greatfully appreciated.
