problem w/ cd-rw and dvd drives
« on: October 29, 2006, 08:09:25 PM »
I have a cd-rw drive and a dvd drive in my computer.  Last year my computer crashed and essentially had to be rebuilt w/ new motherboard, cpu, hard drive, etc.   My old cd-rw and dvd drives were re-attached and I can listen to cds but I cannot seem to burn new cds or watch DVDs.  I am not very good with computers so this may be something simple like needing a driver or the correct software but I have no idea how to go about determining this or acquiring drivers or software (if thats the problem).  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

We don't know either from the information you've given us.

But how about trying the manufacturers webpage of each piece of hardware that you have?

  • videocard
  • Soundcard

Yes, you do need software to use the burning capability. YOu can either pay for Nero, etc., or there are some free ones listed here:
